Technology Mission

OUR GOAL IS INTEGRATING TEACHING, LEARNING AND TECHNOLOGY IN OUR CLASSROOM TO PREPARE FOR 21ST WORLDWIDE COMMUNICATION.

Goal: Integrate the same technology in all schools and in all classrooms, K-12th.
Problem: 1. Budget.
2. Infrastructure.
3. Curriculum and Instruction/Learning and teaching.
4. Professional development and training of teachers.

Solution:
1. Make a plan/strategy of how, the people and what is needed to integrate technology
2. Evaluation of progress
3. Evaluating committee at the central and local offices
4. Use of National Technology Plan, NCLB, Texas Long Range Plan, District Technology Plan, Strategic Plan for Technology 2006-2011,
Project Tomorrow/Speak Up, Texas Star Chart, and Campus Star Chart to determine how and what the district should have as its primary technology focus.

3. Integration of technology in each classroom throughout the district.
4. Support in the classroom for the teachers.
5. Improvement of students in closing the achievement gap.

Budgeting/Financial Planning • Budget whatever monies come from state and federal government.

• Determine the total costs for technology as a percentage of total spending.
• Determine cost per student
• Consider a systemic restructuring of budgets to realize efficiencies, cost savings and reallocation. This can include reallocations in expenditures on textbooks, instructional supplies, and space and computer labs.
• Consider leasing with 3-5 year refresh cycles.
• Create a technology innovation fund to carry funds over yearly budget cycles.

Technology Specialist

• Support teachers with the integration of technology in the classroom
• Functions as an informational specialist.
• Sends technology information to teachers
• Keeps the school technology licenses and programs updated
• Trains teachers
• The predominant and essential function of the job is to serve as an expert in a particular specialty area or professional discipline
that is state wide department wide, agency wide, or the equivalent
• responsible for highly complex assignments that have
considerable impact and are one-of-a-kind within the organization. A
specialist is the only such position responsible for the identified specialty
area for the assigned department(s). Examples of identified specialty
